Loverna Pearl Gilbert, 86, of Morgantown, WV and formally from McKeesport, PA passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, 2020. Loverna was born on February 23, 1934, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Joseph C. Swihart and Loverna Madge Dunn Swihart.

Loverna was a very creative woman. Through the years, she enjoyed making crafts and crocheting afghans. She was a successful woman working as an executive assistant at United Steel in Pittsburgh, PA. She also enjoyed modeling, photography, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all that loved her.

Loverna was proceeded in death by Her late husband Harry Gilbert, Her brothers, Joseph Swihart Jr, Richard Swihart, and John Swihart, and sister Phyllis Squires. She is survived by her sister Sierra Sue Lanham, of Morgantown, WV.

She is also is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews, and many members of the family that she adored.

Loverna’ s wishes were to help others by donating her body for research. Her hope was to help others with her donation. At Loverna’ s wishes, there will not be any service.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Evergreen Nursing Home who helped care for her over the years and made her feel she had a home. Thank you to WV Caring and Staff, Dr. Ward Paine, MD, and Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. A special thank you to her nephew Joseph C. Swihart III and wife Nancy Swihart for all the years of care love and support.
