Patrick Madigan, son of Patrick Madigan and Anne Madigan, formerly Mernan, was born on 28 April 1877, at Cragmore, Askeaton, Co. Limerick.
His father was a Farmer.

In the 1901 census, he was an employee at Clery & Co, Lower Sackville Street [now O'Connell Street], Dublin.
He was aged 23, an Assistant, born in Co. Limerick.
