William Henry Handley passed Wednesday evening at the home of his son, W. R. Handley, at the age of 97 years, 9 months, four days. Mr. Handley had been confined to his bed for the past five weeks.
Mr. Handley, who was born in Darrtown, lived for about 70 years in College Corner, making his home during the last few years with his sister, Mrs. Mary Birdgeford. He came from a family noted for longevity, his grandmother living to be 99 and his great-grandmother 101. His sister age 87, is not with a daughter in Richmond. Recently Mr. Handley was noted in the news as having attended the first Butler County Fair, held in 1851.
Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home in College Corner. Burial will be at the College Corner Cemetery in West College Corner, Indiana.
