Peggy Graves Oct. 21, 1922~Oct. 13, 2019

Peggy Graves, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, in Pueblo. Peggy was 96 years old and would have turned 97 on Oct. 21, 2019. Although her surviving family mourns her passing, they imagine the joy with which Peggy is reunited with her first love and husband of more than 65 years, William "Bill" Graves.

Peggy was born to Isaac and Marie Nance in Imogene, Iowa on Oct. 21, 1922. Her father raised her and her younger sister, Katherine, in Lincoln, Neb. Peggy graduated from Lincoln High School where she met Bill and they were married Nov. 12, 1941. Bill and Peggy had three children, Bill Jr., Chérie Kay, and James Nance.

In 1958, the family moved to Littleton and in 1963 Peggy and Bill moved to Greeley where Peggy worked at State Farm Insurance Regional Office for several years. She then went to work as a secretary at Franklin Elementary School in the Greeley School District. Hundreds if not thousands of children loved seeing Mrs. Graves in the school office and to this day, remember her fondly.

During this time, Bill and Peggy began spending time in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, instilling a love of camping and the outdoors in their children and grandchildren. They also spent summer vacations traveling in their many different RV's – exploring the country from coast to coast.

After retirement, Bill and Peggy settled into their dream home in Estes Park, built by their son Jim, in 1986. They used this beautiful retreat as their home base. They continued to travel for nearly 20 more years, stopping to see their children, grandchildren and friends along the way. Bill and Peggy truly lived and loved well – no one doubted their love for each other, their family, or their travel.

Peggy's parents preceded her in death; as did husband, Bill; and sister Kathy. One of Peggy's greatest heartbreaks was the loss of her daughter, Chérie, in 2012.

Peggy's surviving family mourns her passing, including sons Bill and his wife Jeanne of Castle Rock and Jim and his wife Linda of Pueblo West; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial. Peggy and Bill's ashes were commingled and scattered near Estes Park as they had requested.
