Douglas "Lynn" Storey, 67, passed away peacefully August 7, 2010, after a 17-year courageous battle against prostate cancer.

Lynn was born on June 23, 1943 in Vallejo, CA to Lurae and Douglas Storey, and grew up in Ogden, Utah and Northern California. He was an accomplished baseball player at Ogden High School in Ogden, UT and DeAnza High School in El Sobrante, CA and received an athletic scholarship to San Jose State College. He always had a passion for learning new things and had a wide variety of interests ranging from photography, sailing, skiing, running, rock hounding, birding, painting, and American history.

He received a nursing degree from BYU, and a nurse practitioner's certificate from San Francisco State College. He also owned a restaurant, LaVal's Stuffery in Pinole, CA for a few years. He eventually worked in the commercial real estate field at Equitec and Equity Group and helped create a self storage company, Devon Self Storage.

Lynn always had a loving compassionate heart and made many friends with both people and animals, and was loved by all of the nurses and doctors who attended him. Lynn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed working with the youth as scoutmaster and later as Stake Mission President.

He is survived by his 5 children: Holly (Masa) Miyashiro, James Storey, Eli Storey, Chelsea Storey, and Brittany (Jordan) Archibald; grandchildren: John Layton, Quinn and Riley Miyashiro, Annie, Jake and Juliette Archibald, and Sawyer Storey. Also survived by his father, Douglas Junior Storey; siblings: Dave (Jen) Storey, Ann (Joe) Titone, and Cydney (Dennis ) Kunz; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother LuraeTittensor Storey. He will be greatly missed.

Services for Lynn will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
