LeRoy Fritz Henry Busboom
July 12, 1930 – April 1, 2020

LeRoy F. Busboom, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. He was born on the family farm west of Lincoln to Albert and Gesina (Nobbmann) Busboom on July 12, 1930. He was the youngest of six siblings. He attended District #80, K-8 and graduated from Malcolm High School in 1948. In 1951, he married Charlotte Drumm and they had three children, Karen, Kenneth & Jo Ann. LeRoy was a lifetime farmer and had lived on the home place for approximately 74 of his 89 years. In 2017, the AKSARBEN Foundation awarded him with the 100 Year Pioneer Farm Family Award. He also had various side jobs including: University of NE, Freight Trucking Companies and the Game Commission. He was a past member of the Malcolm Volunteer Fire Dept. and had been on the school boards of both District #80 and Malcolm Public Schools. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, with various past appointments. In 1987, he married Darlene Francis. He and Darlene loved to travel, especially a trip or two to Branson every year. Farming is hard work and there is always something needing to be done. Even in his last year of life, he was still living the dream, not physically, but mentally. He was once asked if it wasn’t time to retire, but his comment was, “He wasn’t old enough and what else was he to do.” He is survived by children, Karen Cook, Ken (Marilyn) Busboom, and Jo Ann (Jon) Eicher, step-daughters, Shelly Francis, Connie (Cory) Watson, and Tracy (Chester) Starkweather; grandchildren: Nicole, Nathan & Laura Cook, Deanna (Keith) Eloi, Trenton Busboom, Kendra (Josh) Ketter, Brooke (Paul) Goedert, Sophie (Tim) Ulibarri; step-grandchildren: Jeremy (Tyla) Watson, Misty (Will) Burke, Dalton Starkweather; great-grandchildren: Jaiven, Mason & Zara Eloi, Katalina & Jaxton Ketter, Ally & Charlotte Goedert, Benaiah Ulibarri; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Larry (Judy) Kelp, LaVonne (Dave) Weston, Beverly (Robert) Mahan, Valdine Drumm; 7 step-great grandchildren.
