As the son of Franz Wilhelm, he was known as 'F. William' Bockius, to distinguish him from his nephew (son of his brother Joseph), who was eight years younger and lived in Germantown at the same time. His nephew was known as Francis William.

1833 - F. William Bockius was a member at a public meeting of citizens of the Lower End to organize and erect a school house.
1835 - President of the Columbia Fire Company.
1835- Secretary at a public meeting to get the legislature to locate in Germantown.
1836 -Worked on the new county project.
1836 - Presided at a meeting to control Germantown Academy.
1837 - Presided at a school meeting.
1839 - Curator at the annual meeting of the Lyceum.
1846 - Commissioner when stock was offered at the incorporation of the Germantown Town Hall Co.
1846 - Made the proposal to build Odd Fellow's Hall on Duy's Lane, now Wister Street.
146m 1848, 1850, 1852 - Elected Burgess.
1847 - Treasurer of the Germantown Horse Thief Society.
1851 - One of the Germantown Water Commissioners to receive subscriptions for a store.
1851 - Owned Germantown Gas Company stock.
