John Thomas Bryant died July 7, 2007, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Bryant was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Dallas, Texas, to John T. Bryant and Fay Lorraine Anderson. He moved to Los Angeles, Calif. at the age of five where he attended grammar school and graduated from Los Angeles High School. While in high school he met Janice Hathaway Haislip. They were married on Feb. 8, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Bronze Star and numerous other medals. He served in Belgium, Germany, Paris, France and England. He was employed with Pacific Telephone Company from 1942-1973 working as a lineman installer and analyzer.

He attended Pierce Junior College in San Fernando, Calif. while working at the phone company. He was the owner operator of Flying Arrow Resort from 1973-1978. In 1978, the couple retired to Ski Run Road in Joseph where they raised hay and boarded cattle. He was a member of St. Katherine's Catholic Church in Enterprise and a life member of the V.F.W.

Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife Janice of Joseph; sons Dale Lee Bryant and John Robert Bryant; daughters Carol Lee Bryant Fritsch and Faye Lorraine Bryant Feldman; nine grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Katherine's Catholic Church in Enterprise. He will be buried at Prairie Creek Cemetery in Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in care of Bollman's Funeral Home.
