James H. Harvey aka Jim, age 77, of Chattanooga, TN passed away unexpectedly on Feb 8, 2020 at the CHI Memorial Hospital in Hixson, TN. He was born August 7, 1942 in Syracuse and was the oldest of four sons of Harry and Catherine Sokol Harvey formerly of Parish. Jim graduated from Altmar-Parish Williamstown Central School, Class of 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy directly upon graduation and was a Radio Operator aboard the USS Casa Grande where he received a letter of commendation for excellent performance of duty while deployed as part of the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea.

Upon completing his Military Service, Jim returned home to New York but continued his travels. He worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 27 years as a bus driver and a driver instructor and eventually retired as a truck driver for Wal-Mart. He was very proud of the fact that he had no accidents on his driving record after all those years and miles of driving.

In his retirement he continued his travels for several years touring the US before settling down in Winter Haven, FL where he spent 14 years before relocating to Chattanooga, TN. He enjoyed playing pool, mowing his lawn, washing his car and watching the Syracuse Orangeman play.

Surviving are his wife, the former Bernette Bard Laney, two children from a previous marriage, Dirk Harvey of Parish and Tracey Harvey Fitch (Mike) of Polk City, FL; two grandsons, Alan of Mexico and Mike (Sarah) Fitch of Woodbridge VA; one great granddaughter, Reagan Fitch; three brothers, John Harvey (Debbie) of Hemlock, NY; Peter Harvey (Lisa) of Tarpon Springs, FL and Paul Harvey (Sherry) of Richmond Hills, GA and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held for Jim and he was placed with his parents in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish NY on August 7, 2021.
