Bernard, William Cooley, 79, he was a well known Inland Empire roofing contractor, died March 6, 1983.
He came to San Bernardino from Gage, Oklahoma in 1936 employed as a sales manager for J. W. Welch Roofing Company, in 1945 he and his wife Arva founded the Cooley Roof and Siding Company in Colton, and they both retired in 1966. He was a member of the Allied Construction Industry, the Colton Chamber of Commerce and the First Christian Church in San Bernardino.
His wife preceded him in death in 1979.
Survivors include his daughter, Monte Palmer and son-in-law, Robert Palmer, both of San Bernardino; brother, Emory Cooley of Stockton; five sisters, May Barnes of Needles, Josephine Rakestraw of Sanger, Grace Gunnarsson of Marilyn, Evangelyn Chittum of Fresno, Alice McCollough of Idaho; two granddaughters, Karen Palmer of Glendora and Lorinda palmer of San Bernardino.
Memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church, 1001 North Arrowhead, San Bernardino, Rev. Frank Hamilton officiating. No public visitation. Memorial contributions preferred, to the American Lung Association, San Bernardino Chapter. Grove Mortuary.
