Gail "Dale" L. Showalter, 73, of 2604 Primrose Lane SW, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, in his daughter's home in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. There will be no services or visitation. Interment: Cedar Memorial park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Nancy Showalter, and a sister, Arlyne "Sally" Barta, both of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Melvin of Atkins, and two grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by a son, Larry.
Gail was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Carmen, Ill., the son of Jesse and Gladys McQueen Showalter. He married Dorothy E. Bednar on July , 1940 in Kahoka, Mo. Gail worked in the trucking business in Cedar Rapids for many years. He retired in 1982.
