Graveside services for Edith Amyx Porter, 94, Irving, formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery with David Tarbet officiating under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler.

Mrs. Porter died Aug. 9, 2007, in an Irving hospital after a long illness.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1913, in Wise County to William R. and Mattie Bates Amyx. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School. She was a resident of Tyler 60 years, where she was a member of West Erwin and University Churches of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Porter Sr.; sisters, Constance Lucinda Winstead and Willie Pauline Dosier; and brothers, Glen Bates Amyx and twin, Edwin Harvey Amyx.

Survivors include sons, David C. Porter, San Pedro, Calif., and John D. Porter Jr., Marshall; daughters, Barbara Brown, Tyler, Linda Magee and Karen Hatch, all of Bedford; brother, Alberly E. Amyx, Kemp; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brent Duncan, Chad Magee, Nick Tuggle, Terry Brown, Gordon Hatch and James Gilliland.

Family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the University Church of Christ or to a hospice of choice.
