Death of Mrs. L. M. Calkins.
In this issue we chronicle the demise of another one of Erie's old and respected citizens, in the person of Louisa M. Calkins, who died of heart disease Monday morning. The deceased had but just returned from Rochester, N Y., where she had been visiting her sisters the past two months, and although ailing, no one suspected her being so near eternity. Mrs. Calkins was in her 70th year, the last thirty of which she spent in out city, making hosts of friends on every side, and known by all as a Christian and devoted mother. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Knowlton and Mrs. F. C. Momeyer, of this city, besides on brother in Buffalo, two sisters in Chicago, and three sisters in Rochester. Deceased was an active member of the Universalist church, among whose members she will be sadly missed.
