Roland served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He received his BA Degree and MA Degree from Michigan State. He was Worldwide Corporate Exhibit Marketing Manager for Texas Instruments where he worked for 25 years. In July 1993, Roland was the recipient of the pretigious Chairmans Award from the International Exhibitors Association for his outstanding contributions to the growth of the trade show industry and the Drexel University four-year degree program in Exhibit Management and Design.

Roland passed away at his home after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was reposed at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. He was a member of Suncreek United Methodist Church of Allen, Texas.

Roland was the son of Roland and Josephine (Vriesenga) Kalmbach. He was married to Betty Page Hodges.
