Abigail Stanley was a daughter of Jesse and Ruth (Hiatt) Stanley. She married first William Ballinger by a marriage bond dated 11 Sep 1829 in Guilford Co., NC. By this marriage she had at least six children: Betsy, Ann, Henry, Cyena, Luzena and John. She was disciplined by the Society of Friends for marriage out of unity, but retained her membership. After his death she married John Edwards the 12th of 4th mo 1848 at New Garden Friends Meeting, Guilford Co., NC. By this marriage she had a son Jesse. She came to Hendricks County in the 1840s. Her death occurred the 21st of 4th mo 1868.
