US ARMY - KOREA and US AIR FORCE

Son of Las Vegas, Nevada resident's John and Minnie Calhoon who called him "Red", Clifford Clayton Calhoon, age 87, completed a full life-filled with love and devotion for his entire family-passing away in his Las Vegas home, July 20, 2019. He was born July 27, 1932. (NOTE: gravestone has 1931)

He is survived and will always be cherished by his: wife-Dinah Lou Benson, of over fifty-five years (1964); three sons and their children-Bill Kissam (Michael, Ryan, Chelsea, and Kyle [1], Major Kissam (Austin, Aaron, and Mitchell), and Clayton Calhoon (Bailey [3], Colton, Wyatt, and Evan); loving daughter-in-laws- Kim K. [3], Noo K., and Cheryl C.; grandson-in-law, Dakota; seven [7] great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and those close friends he considered "family"!

After growing up in Las Vegas, he served for the US ARMY in the Korean War and in the USAF during the Atomic bomb Testing Era! His employment history thereafter, includes Martin-Marietta at Cape Canaveral, Phelps Dodge, and Civil Service for the US Department of Defense, until retiring in 1993. To round-out his later work years, he was an LV Resort Security Officer for the Mirage, Treasure Island, and Bellagio-where he ended as the Security Supervisor of Bellagio Resorts Fine Arts Gallery-stating, "It doesn't get much better than spending the day looking at beautiful art!"

Known as "Poppy" to the grandchildren, Clifford's gentle strength, bright smile, fun-loving spirit, and complete loving devotion to "Gratty" (Dinah), made him a Dad to exemplify and Grandpa who will never be forgotten! He believed in God and the saving Grace of God's only begotten son, Christ Jesus! Therefore, Clifford's family is comforted by knowing he is with our Lord and his love ones, and celebrating in our knowledge he is, once again, healthy in body and mind!

An intimate 'Celebration of Life' service with his immediate family will be held at Bunkers Memory Garden (Lone Mountain/Tenaya) on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:30 am. In lieu of floral arrangements, family requests contributions be made to Beth Yeshua Messianic Congregation of Las Vegas- bethyeshualv.org in care of Senior Pastor, Dr. Richard Hill.
