GEORGE HEMINGWAY,64, DIES IN LACROSSE

George D. Hemingway, 64, of LaCrosse and a former Kassonite passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 8.

Mr. Hemingway grew up in Kasson and had lived in Kasson since 1930. He and his wife, Laura, owned and operated Convenient Jewelers on LaCrosse since 1938. Prior to that he was engaged in jewelry manufacturing in Minneapolis and was vice president of Barth Jewelers in Minneapolis.

A veteran of World War I, he belonged to the American Legion, Frontier Lodge, Zor Temple, Shrine Club, Congregational Church and other civic organizations.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Dr. Dennis Hemingway of Tripler Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii; and his mother Mae of Kasson and one sister, Mrs. Harold Sheppard (Dorothy) of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and a brother.

Services were held Monday, March 12 in the First Congregational Church in LaCrosse with the Rev. Melvin Frank officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
