Robert, of Groves, passed away on Friday at his home. He was born in Port Neches to Zora Mott Abbott and Tommy A. Abbott. He was raised in Colmesneil, Texas and has lived in the Port Arthur area since 1937. He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII. Robert retired from Texaco as a machinist after 33 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zora and Tommy, his brother, J.C. Abbott, his sister, Jean Bell as well as his grandparents. He is survived by his brother Carl Abbott and his wife, Bobbie, his nieces, Karen and her husband, Lehr McKinzer and Penny and her husband, Gary Egbert and his nephew, Tommy Bell. He is also survived by his cousins, Louise Sparkman and Tommy Busselle along with many other cousins as well as many friends at the Groves Sr. Citizen Center where he participated for the past 18 years.
