David A. Aho, 76, of 32 Bockes Road, Hudson, died Wednesday evening, May 8, 1996, at home.
After he retired from the Boston and Maine Railroad with 35 years of service, Mr. Aho and his wife, Carolyn, owned and operated Steam Magic Carpet Cleaning in the Greater Nashua Area.
He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in England, France and Germany. He saw action during the Lusigny Incident and was a sentry at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. He served with distinction in the 133nd Engineer Combat Battalion, Com pany B, 12th Armored Division, 4th Army. He attained the rank of corporal and machine gunner first class.
Mr. Aho was born in Sugarcreek, Ohio, on March 12, 1920, son of the late Matti and Amanda (Langstrom) Aho. He was a longtime resident of Townsend and Fitchburg, Mass., before moving to Melrose, Mass., and then to Hudson, where he lived for 22 years.
He was predeceased by a brother, Neil Aho, and a sister, Ellie Satin.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carolyn E. (Blatchford) Aho; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan and Yvonne Aho of Norwich, Conn., Eric Aho of Putney, Vt., Neil and Martha Aho of Hudson, and Glenn Aho of Hudson; three grandchildren, Leanna Aho of Norwich, Conn., and Angela and Joshua David Aho, both of Hudson; and several nieces, nephews and a cousin in Finland.
The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.
