Faye Bunch Ward, age 93, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020. She was born in Pickens County, GA on August 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Lewis Bunch and the late Cathy Hightower Bunch. She was a member of Consolation Baptist Church.Faye a gracious, loving and sweet lady who loved her family – especially her thirteen grandchildren! Much like Martha in the Bible, always going about doing good. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking cakes for everyone’s birthday. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Louie B. “Doc” Ward; her son, Steve Wilson; and her sister, Elene Martin; her brothers, David Bunch, Randolph Bunch and Doug Bunch.
Faye is survived by her children, their spouses, grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild: Paulette and Richard Bachman of Davenport, FL, Shelly Parker of Hiram, Anita and Fred Blalock of Whitesburg, and Marsha and Jerry Johnson of Winston; grandchildren: Evette Wilson Dexter, Kim Wilson Corbin, Cari Townsend Delatorre, Michelle Plummer Johnson, Evan Gore, Wayne Parker, Vicki Parker Earnhardt, Shane Blalock Hendricks, Nicole Blalock Reed, Leah Blalock Butler, Ashley Blalock Rainwater, Jessica Johnson Ray, Natalie Johnson Ward; sister: Noreen Bunch of Calhoun, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond and Shirley Bunch of Jasper, Allen and Kathy Bunch of Jasper, Mary Bunch and Barbara Bunch; and several nieces and nephews.
A private, family-only funeral service to celebrate Faye’s life and Christian faith will be held in Hightower’s Chapel on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Fred Blalock officiating. A private burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Second Baptist Church by mail to: P.O. Box 6389, Douglasville, Georgia 30154 (770-942-3696.)
