Roscoe Green Smith was only 28 years of age , a son of Elijah Smith and Hannah (Green) Smith.
In his short life he accomplished much. He was converted in youth, entered college at the age of twenty and was a teacher four years at the New Hampton Institution. In August, 1860, failing health caused him to journey West, where he soon died rejoicing in the grace of Christ. ---taken from "Cyclopedia of Free Baptists," pub. 1889, by Burgess and Ward, p. 607.
A Family Tree states he was married to Martha Warren Libby, 28 April. 1860, a few months before his death. One Maine dth record shows "Prof." as a title.
