Born Sept. 12, 1937, she
grew up in Banner Elk and
Asheville and was the daughter
of the late William Albert
and Estelle Mauney Banner.
She was a retired registered
nurse, last employed with
Piedmont HealthCare in
Statesville. She was a member
of Grace Alliance Fellowship
in Statesville. She was active
in the Mooresville Women's
Club, Mooresville Christian
Women's Club and The
Darling Diva Red Hat Club.
She was very involved with
My Sister's House for Battered
Women in Statesville. She
was also involved with her
husband in the Lake Norman
Shrine Club.
She is survived by her husband,
John A. Walker; son,
Maurice Alan King of Atlanta,
Ga.; daughter, Sylvia King
Kochler and her husband,
Keith, of Franklin; step-children,
John A. Walker, Jr. and
his wife, Lee, of Mooresville,
Gordon Small Walker and his
wife, Dawn, of Mooresville
and Marilyn Walker Allison
and her husband, T.A., of
Mint Hill; sister, Nina Frink
Dameron of Greensboro;
nephew, John Banner Frink of
Washington, D.C.; niece,
Margaret Frink Brewer of
Greensboro; 8 step-grandchildren;
8 step-great grandchildren
and 4 grand-nieces.
A memorial service was
held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,
Nov. 21, at Cavin-Cook Funeral
Home Chapel with the
Rev. Charles E. "Chuck" Wall,
Jr. officiating.
