Joseph A. Bender, Schuylkill Haven, passed away Friday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born in Pottsville, Sept. 14, 1955, he was a son of Margaret Bender and the late Albert Bender.
Joseph graduated with an associate degree in computer science from Penn State and remained loyal to his alma mater, cheering on the Lions each weekend. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
He was a systems analyst and had recently retired from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, Mechanicsburg.
He was a member of Bethesda Evangelical Congregational Church of Reedsville.
In addition to his father, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 32 years, Cheryl, and their two beloved pets, a shih tzu named Macy and a Yorkie named Abby2. He is also survived by a brother, Dennis Bender, husband of Jacqueline Hartfiel, Richfield, Ohio.
A viewing was held at Bethesda EC Church of Reedsville, Schuylkill Haven. A funeral service was held at the church. Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven, was entrusted with the services.
