Mrs. Elva Mae Tobery, 70, of Hagerstown, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at her home.

Born Nov. 23, 1939, at her family home in Boyds, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Welty and Dora Hall Wright.

She is survived by her loving family, sons, Jeffrey A. Wright and wife, Brenda, Bernard F. Wright and wife, Christine; granddaughters, Bailey and Ali Wright; companion, Gary Lee Wiles; sister, Lula Comegys and Rebecca Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her sisters, Catherine Smith and Betty Williams.

She was a longtime resident of Frederick, until she relocated to Hagerstown after retiring from H.L. Hartz's, where she was employed for 23 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, caring for pets and was an avid birdwatcher. She also will be remembered by her close friend, Mary Crabbs and the girls from her Tuesday lunch group.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Resthaven Memorial Chapel, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 15, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Katie Penick will officiate. Memorial donations may be sent to Faith United Church of Christ, 933 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD 21701.
