Laura Bishop Ray, 75, of Edmond, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2004. Laura attended Sacred Heart College where she obtained her teaching degree and later returned to school for a degree in Social Services. She had over 25 years of service in social security and disability. Laura was born in Konawa, Oklahoma on March 30, 1929 to Donald and Theresa Ackerman. She is survived by three sons, James (Steve) of Yukon, Bob of Edmond, and Mark Bishop of the Village; one daughter, Susan Hood of Edmond; three brothers of Konawa and one sister of Texas. Laura is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Francis Ackerman, and husbands Herschel Bishop, and Julian Ray. She was an active member of Solo and loved to play cards. She had an abundant garden and a yard full of beautiful flowers every year. Laura has touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed by everyone. She will forever remain in our hearts. Services are being held at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond at 2:00 PM on December 15, 2004. In lieu of flowers, Laura has asked that donation be made to the American Legion Children's Home 1300 Summers Place, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74604.
