At Teheran, Persia, lately, charles Scott, Esq., son of the late immortal Sir Walter Scott, Bart of Abbotsford. Mr Charles Scott was one of the clerks in the Foreign Office attached to Sir John M'Neil's embassy to the Court of Persia; and the fatigues of a long and irksome land journey, combined with previous indisposition, brought on a fever, which terminated fatally soon after the arrival of the mission at Teheran.
Newcastle Journal - Saturday 12 February 1842, p 3:
At Teheran, on the 28th of October, deeply regretted by all who knew him, Charles Scott, Esq. youngest son of the late Sir Walter Scott, Bart of Abbotsford. He was interred in the Armenian church in the city, and the funeral was attended by the members of the British and Russian Missions, and almost all the native Christian population of the place.
