Left for Russia in 1939 at the start of WWII where he died under unknown circumstances per his father Adam's diary. Adam's wife, Felicja survived the first Warsaw (Ghetto) uprising by crossing over from the Jewish Ghetto side to the Aryan-Polish side of Warsaw. She was hidden by her former house maid and then by friends for the remainder of the war. She survived WWII and had her husband's diary published after the war. This information from the book, "Resistance: The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising," by Israel Gutman. Jan is memorialized on his parents headstone
