Marion Dammann was the daughter of Edwin & Katherine L. (Friedland) Blanc. She had an older sister Helen. Her father worked for the fire department. She attended St. Luke's School of Nursing and the WPA Art Center in Spokane. She was a Red Cross nurse and then became Army Nurse after Pearl Harbor. She served with the 47th General Hospital which was being dispatched from Loma Linda, CA to the Pacific Theater. The 47th G.H. left San Francisco for New Guinea. She became ill before VJ Day and the Army flew her home via the Philippines and then to a military hospital near Lubbock Texas.
She married Richard A "Dick" Perry and had a daughter Madilane. Dick had property on Curlew Lake near Republic and in 1949 they moved there, divorcing in 1955. Marion worked as a Ferry County Public Health Nurse for the next 20 years.
She married Herbert Dammann who had three daughters and a son by a previous marriage. She took care of her mother until her death in 1972. She retired in 1980 but continued to be active in the community and in Eastern Star (Herb was a Mason). She also had the distinction of being the first female charter member of a VFW post in the country.
