~ 1878-1886 served the Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Carrsville, Isle of Wight, Virginia
~ His obituary can be found in the Religious Herald in the June 4, 1891 Edition.

Historical Bio Information from the Beaver Dam Baptist Church Historical Records:
He was the brother of Putnam and was the 5th Minister of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and served from 1878-1886. His ministry is marked by general progressiveness. In June of 1878, a Young Men’s Missionary Society was organized and pledges were made for the Education Board. In March 1879, Brother Owens arose in Conference and voluntarily reduced his salary from one hundred and fifty dollars to one hundred twenty-five a year which the generous offer the church refused.
The spirit of progress which marks the ministry of Brother Owens was very evident at this time. Plans were begun this year for altering the church building and providing more equipment for more efficient work. Up to this time there had been preaching once a month. Revivals were held at regular intervals and the membership show a great increase. Pledges for missions also increased.
