Mrs. Della Mae Porter, age 92, of Louisville returned to her Heavenly Father on May 9, 2020. She was born on November 10, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Mary (Bagby) and William Gilpin. She retired from the Courier Journal after over 25 years of service and was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church. Mrs. Porter was generous to a fault, she loved to make dish towels and give them away. She and her husband loved to make all kinds of candy and give it to everyone they knew, from family and friends to the people in the grocery stores. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 62 years, Gabriel Porter; and seven brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory nieces and nephews; her church family, and a host of other dear friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Grace Community Baptist Church, 7300 National Turnpike, Louisville, Kentucky, 40214. Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. All services will be private due to COVID-19. However, friends may pay their respects by participating in a drive by viewing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Please stay in your vehicles and staff will be present to direct visitors in the parking lot.
