A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for E.W. "Gene" Alley, who died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Vancouver. He was 88.

Mr. Alley, a structural engineer for various construction companies, lived in Vancouver for 15 years. He was born Dec. 24, 1914, in Roanoke, Va.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elaine F., at home; two daughters, Pamela Beekman of Fairview, Ore., and Beverly Andersen of Bend, Ore.; one brother, Douglas of Welches, Ore.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Alley was a member of Fairway Village Golf and Country Club, the Shriners and the Association of General Contractors. He was a 32nd degree Mason and enjoyed golf. He was also a Mariners fan.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Columbian, Thursday, May 29, 2003
