Son of Asbury H.(KY)and Martha Ann(MO)(Gibson)Carter. Husband of Sarah Margaret (Glover) 25 Sep 1862 in Sebastipol, Sonoma County,CA.

1870; George A.Craw took up a claim of Government land on the north side of Pioneer avenue between Old San Bernardino and Crafton, becoming the first settler in what later became the Lugonia settlement. In less than amonth James B.Glover located a claim on the future Pioneer avenue. A.A.Carter settled nearby.(quoted from GOLDEN JUBILEE REDLANDS CALIFORNIA page 6 ) Barton Carter is the first white child born. The first child in Redlands to die was from this family also "Nan" or Ana Carter is buried next to her parents.
