Ruth Helen Anderson, 95, of Sturgeon Bay died peacefully at Sturgeon Bay Health Services.

She was born in Oconto, the daughter of Leo and Helen (Merline) Adams. Ruth graduated from Gibraltar High School in the Class of 1941 and became a welder in the WWII shipyards. She also worked at Amity Leather in Sturgeon Bay and as a soap maker.

On December 28, 1946, she married Cecil Gordon Anderson at St. John the Baptist Church in Egg Harbor. The two spent 63 years together before he died on February 26, 2010. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. She enjoyed gardening and her pets.

Ruth will be missed by her son, David (Lu Ann) Anderson of De Pere; grandchildren, David Lee Anderson (fiancée Jennifer) and Christina (Mike) Smits; and great-grandson, Luca Smits.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; brothers, Ronnie and Lee (Sharon) Adams; and sister, Ann Hemery.

A funeral service to honor Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2 pm, at Huehns Funeral Home, with Fr. Anthony Birdsall officiating. She will be entombed next to her husband in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Visitation will be Aug. 24, 1-2 pm.
