Mr. Geno Poscente passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the age of 85 years.

Geno, the youngest of five children and the only son, was born April 24, 1921 in the Riverside area of Calgary to Filippo and Vittoria (née Cardellini) Poscente. The family moved to Nordegg shortly after. Geno moved back to Calgary in 1951 and began his career as a mechanic and then shop foreman for Universal Ford Lincoln for the next thirty-five years. His passion in life, besides his family, was the accordion. He would play for hours and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest audience. He loved gardening and supplied everyone with tomato and hot pepper plants, and he had the best kept lawn in the neighborhood.

Geno is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Kazia "Kay" and his children, Vicki (Nick) Manna, Judy, Michael (Michelle) and Lorraine (Dave) Beyak; eight grandchildren, Theresa (James) Couillard, Nicci (Marty) Doyle, Marie (Cam) Manna, Ryan Beyak, Phillip, Nicholas, Chantal and Luke Poscente; as well as five great-grandchildren, Peter, Samantha, Matt, Brandon and Kurtis. Geno is also survived by his sister Julia Blasetti and sisters-in-law, Elsie Bifano and Dora Grabek; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass concelebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

From obituary published in the Calgary Herald on 3/17/2007.
