Stephen T. Whittier

OGUNQUIT, Me., Sept. 19 - Stephen T. Whittier, 84, and for a number of years in the cotton business at Lowell, Mass., died suddenly today at his summer home on Stearns road.

Mr. Whittier was born in Dennysville, and in his younger days was assistant manager of the Hamilton Manufacturing Company at Lowell. In 1922 he went to New York with the firm of Catlin and Company, cotton brokers. At the time of his death, Mr. Whittier was vice president and director of the Thomas Textile Company, New York. He was a life member of Kilwinning Lodge, A. F. & A. M., of Lowell.

He leaves a son, Benjamin L., of Raleigh, N.C. and three daughters, Mrs. E. O. Holmes, Jr., of Malden, Mass.; Mrs. Capen Abbott of Weston, Mass., and Mrs. Arthur V. Lewis of Irvington, N. Y. Services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday from the home.
