Services for John Lester Mahon, 80, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. Gary Myer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Mahon died Wednesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He had been a Eudora resident since 1976, moving there from Shawnee. He owned and operated Merriam Restaurant in Merriam from 1945 to 1950, then worked for Guy's Potato Chip Co. in Kansas City until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Mahon was born June 17, 1909, at Centerville, where he also attended school. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Shawnee in 1948 and had been a member of Doric Lodge 83 AF&AM since 1976. He was an avid fisherman and bowler and had bowled in leagues in Roeland Park and Lawrence.
Mr. Mahon was married Sept. 10, 1932, at Garnett to Opal Ashburn. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Pat Shaw Baker, Eudora; three brothers, Harold Mahon, Spring Hill, Paul Mahon, Warrensburg, Mo., and Earl Mahon, Clearview City; two sisters, Marie Faucett, Osawatomie and Mildred Stainbrook, Overland Park; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorial to the Doric Lodge 83, Eudora, which may be sent in care of the mortuary.
