Warrant Officer Martin served in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group of 12th Marine Defense Battalion on Guadalcanal, New Britain and Peleliu before returning to the United States in January 1945 to work at the US Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. Chief Warrant Officer Martin retired from the Marines on 12 August 1946, but little is known about his retirement years.
