Daughter of George Miller Ashby and Rosalie Abigail Carman.

In 1900, Rosalie Ashby, aged 13, born March 1887 in New York, was living at 154 North Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, boarding in the home of her aunt and uncle, Eloise (Carman) Bates, aged 52, and Edwin A. Bates, aged 51, a grocer.

June 25, 1909 - "Miss Rosalie Ashby who graduated last week from the Kindergarten training class of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, came home on Tuesday morning."

January 6, 1911 - "Miss Rosalie Ashby- returned on Monday to Little Falls, N. J., where she is engaged in teaching."

January 21, 1916 - "Miss Rosalie Ashby was able to leave the General Hospital in Elizabeth, N J., on Sundav and was taken to her apartment at 480 Magie St., where she is slowly regaining her strength after a siege of typhoid fever."

May 25, 1934 - "Miss Rosalie Ashby, of Elizabeth; N. J, a former resident of Bayport, has recovered from her three serious operations and the months of illness following, sufficiently so that she has been able to go to Mastic where she is to spend some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ross."

Obituary - Miss Rosalie Abigail Ashby, born 77 years ago in Bayport to George H. Ashby and Rosalie Carman Ashby, died in her sleep last Thursday afternoon after a long illness. In early infancy she was taken to live with relatives in New Bedford, Mass., but returned in girlhood to Bayport and was graduated from Sayville High School in 1907. After graduating from Pratt Institute she became head of the department of domestic arts in the schools of Elizabeth, N. J. After her retirement she built a home on Terry Court in Center Moriches where she had since lived. There are no near relatives surviving. After cremation the remains were interred in the grave of her mother in St. Ann's cemetery.
