Killed --- A Sad Accident.
-------
A horrible accident which resulted in the death of two miners occurred this fore-noon at 11:30 o'clock in the Badger Mining Co.'s mine at Badger, a mining camp about five miles north of Galena. The mine where the accident occurred is owned by Meredith Bros. The names of the unfortunate men are Geo. Murray and Wm. Chestnut. Murray lived in Empire City and was a single man. Chestnut lived at Badger and had a wife and four children.
A large slab of dirt fell, completely burying the unfortunate men and killed them instantly. Murray's body was taken out in short time. The body of Chestnut was recovered late this afternoon. The lower part of it was crushed to a pulp. Dr. E. B. Payne, of this city, was summoned to the scene of the terrible accident as soon as it occurred, but his services were not needed. Undertaker W. P. Stough went out this afternoon to get the bodies and prepare them for burial.
