Desert Sun Sept 28, 1966 Mrs. Dorothy Guild Phillips, wife of John Phillips. Congressman from this district for 14 years, died Saturday. She was 77. Cause of death was arteriosclerosis aggravated by arthritis. Mrs, Phillips was bom in Lynn, Mass She was graduated from Wellesley College in 1910 and taught in New Jersey public schools for three years before her marriage. The couple lived in Ohio until moving to California in 1924 They moved to Banning in 1925 where they made their permanent residence until moving to Rancho Mirage in 1962 The family residence is 71-684 San Gbrgotrio, Rancho Mirage In the desert area, Mrs. Phillips was active in the Desert Four Republican Women's Club, the Rancho Mirage Women's Club and the Republican Women Federated in Banning During her husband's term in the state Senate, Mrs Phillips was president of the Pal's flub, an organization of wives of legislators. She was a member of a similar wives' group in Washington. D C., while Phillips was in Congress, She alsr» was a member of the PF,O Sisterhood, the Aurentia Chapter of DAR in Riverside and Pro-America. In addition to her husband. Mrs Phillips is survived by two sons, Robert of Riverside and Carl, a maior in the U.S. Air Force; a daughter. Mrs. Margaret McWhirter of Palm Springs; two sister 5 , Mrs Eleanor McHale of New Jersey and Mrs Frances Kieckhefer of Scottsdale. Ariz, and eighi grandchildren. Private memorial services are scheduled Friday at Desert Memorial Park cemetery with Wiefels and Son Mortuary in charge. The body was cremated immediately, according to Mrs Phillips' wish.
