Betty Jean Pletcher Nov. 1928 - Jan. 1, 2013 Resident of Union City Born in Clouson, WVa to Opal & Bus Bane. Mother of Judy Castro (Dan) of Union City, CA; Jim Pletcher (Sandra) of Tahoe; Paul R. Rine (Debra) of Proctor, WVa. Loving sister to Robert Bane, Sr. of Pittsburgh, PA & Bonnie Van Wegen (Larry) of Garden Valley, CA. She was the proud grandma to 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Betty worked for Eastman Kodak Company in Palo Alto for 20 years until retirement in 1984. In 1985 she moved to Garden Valley, CA where she spent the next 20 years being the happiest she had ever been. On her 5 acres, she happily grew Irises and worked on her house and yard, there wasn't much she couldn't do. In her spare time she fostered dogs for the Georgetown Animal Outreach and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Senior Center. Betty and her much loved dog, Levi, spent the last 8 years with her daughter in Union City, CA. There she volunteered for the Better Breathers for Life Club at Washington Hospital and was known for her quick wit and beautiful white hair. She loved the people of the group and the friendship she made were very special to her. Betty & her dog, Levi's ashes will be returned to her beloved green hills of West Virginia to rest with her parents and family. Memorial will be held Sunday, January 13th at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fremont. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Ohlone Humane Society.
