Athalie attended schools in Sweden and graduated from Bridgton High School. After high school she enlisted in the US Naval WAVE program and served during World War II. She married her childhood friend, Guy C. Boutelle of South Paris and Sweden, Maine. Guy and Athalie Boutelle had 5 children and were able to travel because of Guy’s career in the military. Athalie brought their children back home to Bridgton, Maine whenever Guy had to deploy overseas. Guy and Athalie moved to Austell, GA, where they lived for 20 years and raised their children. In 1982 Guy and Athalie moved back to Bridgton, where she continued to live after Guy’s death for 30 years. In 2012 she moved to Georgia to be near her daughters.
She is survived by son, Chester G Boutelle of Seaford, VA.; three daughters, Nancy L Wood of Jasper, GA; Pamela S Mauldin of Douglasville, GA and Giesela E Zavodny of Duluth, GA; a sister, Arlene Feldman of Bridgton, ME; a brother, Ethelbert Plummer of Oxford, ME; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Athalie will be buried between her husband, Guy C Boutelle and her son, George Alan Boutelle in Taylor Cemetery, Sweden, Maine. There will be a celebration of life planned for next summer in Bridgton, Maine at her home on Moose Pond.
