Roland was a graduate of Torrington High School, Class of 1961. He then graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 1965, before receiving his MBA from the University Chicago in 1967.
Roland began his career as the assistant administrator at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. He then went on to be the Chief Operating Officer at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, OH; CEO of Rochelle Community Hospital in Rochelle, IL; and CEO of Sandwich Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL. Roland retired as President & CEO of Pana Community Hospital.
He was a member of the Tower Hill Christian Church and a life-long member of the Rotary Club. He loved golfing, camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his children & grandchildren.
Roland Carlson and Rosemary Lacko were united in marriage on March 18, 1967 in the Trinity College Chapel. She survives in Pana, IL, along with their children: Andrew (Claudette) Carlson, Lakewood, CO; Erik (Erica) Carlson, Providence, RI; Seth Carlson, New York City, NY; Kristin (Devin) Becker, Moscow, ID; grandchildren: Maxwell Carlson, Lucas Carlson, Ilsa Carlson, Agnes Becker & Wallace Becker and brother, Richard (Jane) Carlson, Tarpon Springs, FL.
A memorial service for Roland will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Tower Hill Christian Church, Tower Hill with Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials in Roland's honor may be made to the Tower Hill Christian Church, Pana Community Hospital Foundation or Samaritan's Purse.
