The Speyrer Church became their family church. The church records show that Hans and Anna were members and are buried there. All their children were baptized in this church and the ones who died in young are buried there too.

The Speyrer Church records show Hans died on January 29, 1721.

At a young age Hans learned to be a carpenter. In German a carpenter is called a Zimmerman. Most likely Hans was raised Catholic since this was the dominant religion in Bavaria at that time and he would have spoken the specific German dialect of that province.

When Hans left home to pursue his own life, his travels eventually took him to the area near Stammheim which is in the Baden-Wurttemberg province of Germany and was predominately Protestant. There he met Anna Catharina Hobacher who was "Evangelisch" (Protestant).

After Hans and Anna were married, he set up residence in or near Ditzingen and established himself as a carpenter. Hans would have had to learn the dialect of this area which was called Zwabish. Hans converted to Lutheran and raised his family as Lutheran. Town records from abt 1721 indicate that his two oldest sons Jacob (18 yrs) and Josef (16 yrs) had learned the carpenter trade from their father.

Hans Jorg Brandlinger (2 dots (diaeresis) above the letter o in Jorg and 2 dots (diaeresis) above the letter a in Brandlinger) is the original German spelling of his full name. An example of the American version would be Hans Jerg Brendlinger. Although Hans never left Germany.

Brendlinger is the original American spelling and does not have any diaeresis. It was first used in Pennsylvania courthouse records when Hans' son Josef (Joseph Brendlinger "Sr") and his family arrived from Germany. Additionally, George is the American version of Jorg and Joseph is the American version of Josef.

Several generations later in the USA, descendants of Conrad (son of Josef (Joseph Brendlinger "Sr") mentioned above) will deliberately change the spelling to include Brentlinger, Brantlinger, Brintlinger and Brindlinger. Why they did this is unknown.
