He was the son of the Henry Sturgis Adams and his wife, Catherine (Adams) Morgan, and the great-grandson of John Pierpont Morgan. He attended St. Bernard's School, Groton, and L.I.U. and then served in the Navy in the early 1960's on nuclear submarines. Adams was employed by General Electric following his service in the Navy. He donated much of his time with Habitat for Humanity following his retirement.
