Affectionately known as “GrannyMa”, she was born in Everetts, NC and was the daughter of Charlie B. and Neva Gray Stalls.
Predeceased by her parents and sister, Shirley Rasmussen Strickland. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Shelby retired from Chesapeake Public Schools as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Special Education Dept. Shelby was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church for more than 64 years, a member of the Hope Bible Class, Baptist Women, WMU, and the Adult Choir.
Survived by her husband of 57 yrs., Robert C. “Bobby” Day; sons, Jayson “Jay” (Angela) Day, Sean (Kim) Day and Joseph L. “Joey” (Vicky) Day; grandchildren; Robbie Day, Lauren Day, Stephen (Tiffany) Day, Adam Day and Jordan Day; and a great grandchild, Zoey.
The Celebration of her Life will be May 23, 2020 at Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, 1000 Crowell Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23324, by her pastor, Pastor Shannon Terhune and Rev. Paul Menard. The family will receive friends following her “Life Celebration” Service. Interment will be private in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
