W. D. Anderson, 82, of Mt. Herman, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Broken Bow Lake. He was born March 20, 1925, in Bethel, OK, the son of Raymond and Hattie (Howard) Anderson.

W. D. proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He served as Platoon Leader in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. W. D. was awarded two Silver Stars, two Purple Hearts, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Bronze Star.

W. D. was a rancher and enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool. He never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others. He loved spending time with his family and was a good father and best friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alma Johnson and one son, William David Anderson.

W. D. leaves to cherish his memory his fiancée, Kay Simmons of Mt. Herman; three children, Tanda Stowe, Tucson, AZ, Keith Anderson, Mt. Herman, OK and Steve Anderson, Bethel, OK; one brother, Doyle Anderson, Mt. Herman, OK; three sisters, Estelle McAtee, and Shirley Teinert both of Oakwood, TX and Rachel Swart, Centerville, TX; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2007, at the First Assembly of God, Hochatown, with Bro. Bob Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, OK.
