Per his obituary in the Youngstown Vindicator, the family decided to erect a granite chapel for him in the same design of the chapel for General John Logan in the National Cemetery in Washington D.C. His body was temporarily placed in the vault of Johnathan Warner at Oak Hill until his chapel was constructed.
