Danny Neal Winfield, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on February 27, 1946, in Enid, Oklahoma to Neal Jr. Winfield and Thelma Mae (Walton) Winfield.
He graduated from Enid High School in 1964. Mr. Winfield spent six years in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, serving during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Central State University in Edmond, OK, in 1973 and began working with the U.S. Air Force (Civil Service) in 1973. Mr. Winfield worked for the US Civil Service as: Bowling Center Manager, Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas, and Upper Heyford, England; Chief of MWR, Pruem Air Station, Germany; Chief of MWR at Izmir, Turkey; Membership Support Flight Chief at Holloman AFB, NM, and lastly Business Operations Flight Chief at Tinker AFB, OK. He retired from Civil Service in January of 2003 and began working for the Eisenhour Funeral Homes of Midwest, Del & Oklahoma City as an Assistant Funeral Director. He also worked part time for the OK Athletic Club as an usher for the Red Hawks baseball team.
Danny was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and of the Cardinals baseball team. During his retirement years he enjoyed gardening and became quite the "chef" at home.
Mr. Winfield married Vicky Lou Williams in 1967 at Fort Sill, OK. To this union three sons were born: Danny Neal Jr., Don L. and Mickey David. They were blessed with five grandchildren and one step-grandchild: Danielle (Josh) Feeney, Elayne (Adam) Petrie, David Winfield, James Winfield, Zoe Winfield and Lyla Keith.
Preceding him in death are his parents; one sister, Virginia Cross; two sons, Danny Neal Jr., and Mickey David; daughter-in-law, Karen (Jeffery) Winfield; and brother-in-law Dewey Sutton.
Danny is survived by his wife, Vicky; one son, Don L. Winfield of Florida; 6 grandchildren; his daughters-in-law, Jacqueline (Mains) Winfield of El Paso, TX, Lacy (Mike) Keith of Portales, NM, and Stacy Leggett of Florida; his sisters, Mary (Terry) Page of Goltry, Oklahoma and Peggy (Ron) Newman of Enid, OK; his sisters-in-law, Sharon E. Sutton of South Carolina and Carol J. Liggett Goudey of Colorado; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Special Olympics of Oklahoma, your church or charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home, OKC, OK. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow later in the afternoon at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.
