Russell Ward Girod, 65, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the Hillcrest South Hospital. Russell was born on January 6, 1955, in San Francisco, California, the son of Roy Russell and Barbara Nell (Ward) Girod. He graduated from Glenpool High School. Russell was an entrepreneur running many businesses including the 5 Star Publishing, Cinema Review Magazine and Ace Storm Shelters. He also worked as a railroad conductor. On November 30, 1984, Russell married Helena McIntosh. They were happily married for thirty-five years. He was a member of the Battle Creek Church in Broken Arrow. Russell loved to fish and come up with new businesses.
Survivors include: his mother, Barbara Girod; his wife, Helena Girod of the home; his son, Gerald Scott Girod and wife Cynthia of Broken Arrow; his daughter, Maria Suzette Gillespie and husband Bill of Coweta; his brother, Paul Girod and wife Johnna of Tulsa; his sister, Darla Fleming and husband Rick of Tulsa; his grandchildren, Daniel Wall, Christian Himes, Marc Gillespie, David Girod, Autumn Girod and his great grandchildren, Andie Dozier, Liam Himes, Payton Himes, Siah Wall and Paul Wall. He is preceded in death by his father.
